Monthly Menu Planning

I have been doing monthly menu planning on and off for a while now.  I really like the ease that doing a monthly menu plan brings to our home.  It helps even better if I do a big baking day to get some good food into our freezer for during the week.  Below is a photo of my last baking day results.

February 2011 Baking Day
I ended up making:
  • Hamburger Vegetable Soup (6 meals)
  • Chicken Wild Rice Soup (4 meals)
  • Quinoa Chicken Stew (Utter Failure, had to throw away)
  • Spaghetti Sauce with Vegetables and Meat (2 meals)
  • Beef Taco Meat (2 meals)
  • Sloppy Lentils (3 meals)
  • Beefy Biscuit Cups Filling (2 meals)
  • Cream of Mushroom Soup (3 jars)
These will end up lasting us for two months as we will follow the following menu for two months.

It makes it so nice to not have to come home and wonder what we are going to eat for dinner!  It is listed right there on the menu plan for the month that is posted on the refrigerator.  Even William likes it when he can know what we are having for dinner that night.

  1. Homemade Cream of Mushroom Soup! Is the recipe on your blog? Can you point me to it or post it? I just found a recipe for HM Cream of Chicken Soup that a friend tried and recommended. Thanks for your comment on my post!

  2. Seems like you've got this monthly menu planning figured out! I'm still working on a system that works for me! I'm doing pretty good planning 2 weeks menus at a time but am working towards a monthly plan!

  3. Wow, that is impressive. I'm lucky I can plan meals for two days at a time. :-) Great work. It's just hubby and I, so there really isnt a need. I cook while we both work, he cooks on days that he has off and I work, and I cook on days I have off and he's at work. It works for us. I'm sure that would be different if we had a little one running around.
