Welcome Sadie!

We adopted a dog last month!

She is 9 months old.

Pure-bread Golden Retriever.

She is such a good girl!  She already follows commands and is completely house broken and she is kennel trained, which was a nice surprise as we had already made the decision prior to getting her that we would require her to be kenneled during the day and at night.

She is such a joy to have in our family!!!

Goodbye Sam

We said goodbye to our kitty Sam this weekend.  He became sick and we made the difficult choice to put him down.  Our house already seems a little less happy without him.

Sam - January 16, 2015

I will miss him and the funny way he liked to lay on his back.   And how he loved to sleep curled right up next to my arms.  And pretty much everything else about him.  Except his litter box.  I will not miss that one bit!

Sammy the Cat

The meanest, baddest, cuddly cat you will ever meet.  My Sammy.  Who only likes to cuddle with me in the middle of the night.  He is 10 or 11 years old (I can't remember if we got him in 2002 or 2003).

Final Resting Place

We spread some if Wesley's ashes this weekend up at Ed & Suzie's house.  Wesley loved being there and you could always find him along the edge of the woods, so it was fitting to lay him to rest there.

Libby was a very good helper.  I really don't think she realized what she was doing, but she was happy to help and wanted to spread more than we did.  We still plan on spreading some of Wesley's ashes at a few other locations that he loved to be at including out at Camp and on Big Sandy.

After we were done with that sad task, we headed down to the clearing for a campfire.  It was so nice to sit out in the woods and enjoy a small fire with family.  Even Suzie felt up to coming down and sitting with us which was awesome!  It is so good to see her still being able to enjoy the simple things as she fights her battle with cancer.  She is so strong and is such a good fighter!

And just because I can, here is one of my handsome boys relaxing together!

Mommy & Daughter Day

Before I went back to work, I spent a day with Libby doing fun stuff.  She has been yearning for some Mommy time so we made it happen.

We started the day with some shopping at the local Walmart.  Some new clothes for her for fall and some special big-girl diapers that pull on like underwear.  (She still isn't interested in potty training...)

Then we headed to Fawn-Doe-Rosa, the local animal park for some fun.

I bought her a necklace at the gift shop.  It is just like the one Grandma Sue has.

She went for a pony ride and loved it!

Feeding the deer was fun.  This one was brave enough to eat out of her hand.  Most of them were not!

The goats were cute and she really liked the small ones.
After the animal park, we headed out for happy meals.  A very quick round of mini golf followed and then we ended our day with an ice cream treat!  She was so tired by the end that she fell asleep in the car on our way to pick Eddie up from Tiffiny's house.

It was a great day and I loved spending time with her.  She is such a fun little girl to be around.  I am so lucky she is mine!

Good Bye Wesley

We said good bye to our loving dog Wesley at the end of June.  We miss him dearly and know there will never be another dog like him!  He was such an original!  Thanks to him for almost 14 years of unconditional love and fun.

Fresh Air & Fun

We spent some time outside last night enjoying the beautiful weather before the next round of storms rolls in later today (supposed to rain off and on for the next 4-5 days).   I was able to vacuum out my car while Libby rode her bike and car in the driveway.  She can actually pedal the tricycle now!  Yesterday was the first time she did it on her own.  Such a big girl.  (It was so fun to see William's face light up in excitement when he saw she was doing it on her own as he arrived home from work!)

She wasn't happy that Wesley was in the back yard and not out front with her, so after making sure it was okay with me, she let him out so he could come sit in the front yard.  He laid down next to me and she came over and sat by him and we all rested together in the lawn.  I was able to snap the above photograph with my cell phone and I loved how it turned out.  They can be so cute together!

Dinner was delayed for hours due to the beautiful weather and Libby didn't get to bed until after 9 PM last night so I hope she isn't too terribly behaved at Tiffiny's today due to getting less sleep.  It sure was fun to spend the time with her as she played outside.

Life slowed down last night, if only for a few hours.  It was wonderful!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year from the Schulze Family.  We were blessed to be able to spend a wonderful extended weekend with family in Brainerd this weekend and it was wonderfully relaxing and an enjoyable time.

I woke up on New Year's Day to find Miss Elizabeth taking a nap with Grandma Suzie.  It was so cute I had to take the chance of snapping a photo.  Turns out Elizabeth slept through the flash.

And a wonderfully calm old Golden Retriever found a comfortable spot on the couch in front of the fireplace where he could stay warm.  He is now almost completely deaf, but is such a sweet old dog.  I sure am going to miss him when the time comes to say goodbye.

My Animals

This is my unbelievably cute kitty Sam. He loves being outside and laying in the grass or in the driveway. Lately he hasn't been very good at telling the difference between the driveway and the street... We may come across issues with that confusion. But for now, he is happy and healthy and I love him. Even though he doesn't always love me.

This is the best Golden Puppy in the whole entire world. Wesley will turn 11 years old this September and is still kickin'. He doesn't like to listen to me but he sure likes food and attention. Specifically in that exact order. There isn't much he hasn't eaten (or at least tried to eat) such as a whole cantaloupe, a head of leaf lettuce, 4 bags of Halloween candy, a bar of Lever 200o soap, just to name a few. They all were different outcomes, (ahem) but he has a stomach of steel for some reason and continues to try to eat everything he can put in his mouth. You'd think we don't feed him! He has also had surgery to repair tendons in both back legs, shattered the bones in one of his back paws and most recently broke one of the large K-9 teeth and had to have it removed. He has been excellent preparation for having a baby! It makes me sad that he is coming towards the end of his time with us because I can't imagine my life without him! He is such a special dog and we will never be able to "replace" him, even though we will definitely get another golden after he has passed.
