Gratituesday: My Circus*

Life is busy at our house.  We are constantly busy feeding kids, cleaning up after kids, playing with kids, bathing kids, loving on kids and the myriad of other tasks that need to be taken care of every day.  And we only have two kids!  Imagine what it would be like if there were more!

I am grateful every day for the opportunity I have been given to guide these two little souls.  I don't get to spend as much time with them as I would like to, but every minute I am with them is my dream come true.  Even when Libby has a potty training accident.  Even when she wants me to pick her up for the 100th time in an hour or she needs another snack (but we just finished dinner 5 minutes ago).  Even when Eddie needs another diaper change or another meal of milkies or he needs to be picked up because he has tipped over again.

Some days I feel like my life is a three ring circus and I am the ring-leader, expected to be in all three rings at the same time.  Juggling toys, taming lions (or baby dolls), and walking the tightrope of keeping a marriage on track.  It is hard work and some days I fail miserably.  I only have a limited time to spend with my family and I never know when that time will expire.  Embracing the challenges in life is part of being grateful for all we have been given.  And raising a family is a challenge!  I will gladly take the potty training accidents, the endless hunger of a 7 month old boy and the knowing smile from a husband who remembers the mornings of when it was just the two of us, but loves the fact that his daughter prefers to climb into our bed on his side and cuddle with him on Saturday mornings.

Yes, life is busy at our house.  And for that, I am so very grateful.  Because some day it will just be William and I again.  And as much as we don't want to admit it, we WILL miss these busy days with our kids.

  1. What a great perspective! It does go by fast - just like everybody says. We've got 3 boys, and now they're 9,12,13. Way to be obedient and enjoy every phase!! God Bless You :-) Michelle

  2. Awww, how sweet. I bet it is hectic but like you said, one day your kids will be grown and on their own so cherish the time you have now! Sounds like you are doing a great job of that :)
