Libby is such an opinionated, stubborn little girl and I am having difficulty training her to listen and obey to simple tasks such as:
1) Getting dressed. Still a problem with her, although more on occasion now.
2) Using her words to ask for what she wants.
3) Going to bed. She says she is afraid of her bedroom, but even with really bright night-lights, she still doesn't like to go to bed!
4) Whining. Oh, the whining.
Of course I will not give up on trying to train her to listen and respond politely, but some days, I just want to yell and curse! Granted, that only makes me feel worse in the long run - but does give her a good example to follow when I apologize for yelling at her when I lose my temper.
We had a subtle glimpse of discipline working this morning before she left for Tiffiny's house, but I would rather not have to discipline her, I would rather she just willingly put on her boots and jacket!!! Time outs just delay departure and I think that is what she wants in the first place!
Okay, vent session over. Time to get back to it!
This has to be very frustrating! I wish I could give some advice but I don't have kids so I have no idea! Maybe it's just a phase? I hope she gets over it soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tammy! Libby is destined for great things, I just need to find the balance between training her without squashing who she really is. And she really is a strongly opinionated little girl who desires things her way... Which will serve her well in the future!
